    Need help setting X-overs...maybe?

I have an Alpine CDA-9887 that is Bi-ampin a set of Elate 6 3-ways using two Sinfoni 150.2X Amplitudes. My installer (I believe should have done some tweeking or at least set it to 3-way mode...anyway. Now I need to know what the optimal X-over settings should be for these speakers. I appreciate any assistance. I am new at this but want good sound. I feel like I should have it by now.

    Hi aworld,

Crossover settings will vary based on personal taste; I believe the speaker manufacturer and the specs for the speakers will give you a better idea of where they should be set, but their recommended setting still may not sound good to you.

I would recommend setting it to your personal tastes; after all, you are the person who will be listening to them the most, so they should be set the way you like!

If you want to have a shop look at the settings and/or do some tweaking for you, I would recommend you use our dealer search and find the closest dealer to you, then go to the shop or give them a call to see if they can help you out.

    I hope this helps!

     All the best,

    Moe

Thanks Moe, I figured as much. This dealer seems to want to sell and install and not deal with the hassles of applying the finesse and time it takes to set up the sound other than at factory settings. Will it make a difference? I am still using the passive x-overs on the Morels so will adjusting the x-overs on the deck (other than further restriction of frequencies) change the sound at all? Should I, first and foremost, have someone equipped with the accuset system for the Elates tune the crossovers on the speakers instead of the deck? Last question, I am strongly considering using a Milbert Pre-amp (3-way) as I have a thing for that tube sound. What would that mean as far as tuneability of my system? Will this be a mistake?
