TKE Event in Georgia Sept 20 & 21, 2008

IASCA TKE EVENT TO TAKE PLACE AT MOTORSPORTS NATIONALS SUPERSHOW

August 15^th, 2008 – An agreement has been reached with JBird Productions to host an IASCA triple point TKE alongside the Motorsports Nationals Supershow to be held on September 20^th and 21^st, 2008 at the Georgia International Convention Center.

The Motorsports Nationals Supershow will feature many of the attractions competitors have come to expect from the NOPI Nationals that it replaces.

“Like NOPI Nationals, the Motorsports Nationals show is a lifestyle event geared towards youth market and today’s automotive enthusiasts. Slated for the schedule are a car show, celebrity appearances, vendor displays and numerous side events including an awesome swimsuit contest, all taking place at the venue” states IASCA President Paul Papadeas; “The show attracts our core demographic and we feel that this event offers mobile electronics manufacturers an opportunity to show their products to key consumers in our industry. After correspondence with JBird Productions regarding the economic plight our industry faces, special exhibit pricing will be offered making it extremely affordable for those who were slated to exhibit at the NOPI event”

The IASCA competition event will be produced by veteran IASCA show promoter Soundoff Technologies. Competitions will include a TKE (Territorial Key Event) event featuring Sound Quality, IdBL SPL competitions and latest SPL competition sensation; Bass Boxing. Along with the IASCA TKE event, events from other competition organizations will be taking place, including the inaugural Car Audio Nationals (CAN) Finals.

We have just been informed by NOPI Motorsports that it has suspended its complete NOPI series, including the NOPI Nationals, for the summer and fall of 2008. As you know, the NOPI Nationals has been the home of the IASCA Finals for the last three years.

As we have been diligently preparing for this year's Finals, this announcement has come as a great shock to us all. Rest assured, we have already begun the search for a venue where we can host this year's IASCA Finals and we will make every effort to protect the interests of all affiliates, competitors, manufacturers and retailers who have already invested in their trip to and presence at the Finals this year.

IASCA Re-designates the World Finals

August 7, 2008 - Daytona Beach, Florida. In the wake of the cancellation of the NOPI Nationals and the Atlanta Motor Speedway’s decision to forego any type of auto sound competition at the drag event they will be producing on NOPI’s dates, IASCA announces its plans for its competition season finale formally and formerly known as the “World Finals”. With suggestions and input from its membership base, industry proponents and various international affiliates, the newly designated IASCA North American Championships will be held annually at the Spring Break Nationals, starting with the 2008 Championships being held at SBN in March 2009.

“We have given this careful consideration” says Paul Papadeas, President of IASCA and SBN EXPO Group. “On many levels this makes perfect sense. SBN is a well attended car audio focused event that serves consumers and trade participants and soundoff competitors from both factions. The newly expanded Ocean Center has enough space to host a regular TKE IASCA competition that anyone can enter, the Invitational IASCA North American Championships, the Tuner Jam car show and exhibits from both car audio manufacturers and automotive aftermarket suppliers all under one roof. Also planned for 23^rd annual SBN is an IASCA Worldwide Summit bringing industry and our international affiliations together for trainings, and to discuss the marketing phenomenon called soundoff and its effectiveness around the world. With all activities at SBN focused into one venue, instead of being scattered about on the beachside and parking lots, we’re able to deliver a more concentrated marketing message to the end users than ever before.

Renaming the IASCA Finals to the “IASCA North American Championships” may take getting used to for some. The action will give due respect to the rest of the IASCA world and their autosound challenge efforts. Our ultimate goal one day soon will be to realize a true world class competition event.

Another prospect for the invitational will be something that has eluded soundoff competition for years; prize money for the winners. We plan to return at least 50% of all invitational entry fees back to the winners and, if sponsorship and attendance of the event is strong, this number could increase dramatically. “It’s time to focus on what pulled us out of the slump almost 20 years ago; Soundoffs were a great marketing tool then and the same holds true today. The only difference is our approach, focus and control of its growth” cites Papadeas.

Up until last week, I only bought music one way. On those shiny objects called CD's. I detest DRM on purchase music and don't like the bitrate of the music available via MP3's from Amazon, iTunes or Zune. So I have been stuck buying CD's and ripping the music to my home media server at a lossless bit rate. That works well at home, but when copied to an iPod, I always feel like the bottom and top end of the music is missing. (For example yesterday in my car trip, the White Stripes were lacking in the bass department in a huge way.)

Last week, I was introduced to HDTracks.com, which is founded by David and Norman Chesky of the audiophile record label Chesky Records, featuring thousands of artists, including Smokey Robinson, Joe Jackson, Bob James, Buddy Guy, Nina Simone, Earl Wild, Zubin Mehta, The Kinks, Of Montreal, Yo La Tengo and Jerry Garcia, from 60 independent labels around the world.

ONE OF OUR DEALERS AND SUPPORTERS NEEDS YOUR HELP

Jeff Smith, owner of Audio Designs of Atlanta in Stockbridge, Georgia, had his shop broken into last night and thieves literally took almost everything; tools, the shop truck, equipment and anything they could get their hands on. Jeff is now with police and they are investigating, but we want to help in any way we can.

As a former retailer, I know what Jeff is going through, I've been there myself. Let's support him in any way we can; for those in the Atlanta area, keep an eye out for any high end equipment that may become available through less than reputable channels. It may be a lead to the culprits who did this. For those who know Jeff and his shop, he is a high end store with a powerful reputation for building some of the best high end systems in show vehicles, as well as for competition in IASCA and other organizations.

Equipment that was taken includes high end product from Zapco, Audison, Hertz, Dynaudio, Alpine and Kenwood. As we get more information on other items that were stolen, we'll post them in this blog.

IMPORTANT NOTICE RE: HEARING PROTECTION AT IdBL/EBB EVENTS

To: All IASCA Judges, Competitors, Sanctioned Event Coordinators and Promoters

Subject: Hearing Protection Protocol.

Date: April 3, 2008

Since its inception, IASCA has promoted the “Practice Safe Sound” message. We feel it is absolutely essential to warn our constituency to the dangers of extreme SPL and the permanent hearing damage that could result in listening to such extreme SPL without protection. IASCA IdBL Rules, page IdBL-4, bullet point 1, identifies our corporate position regarding the use of hearing protection. When competing in any SPL format while sitting inside the vehicle, competitors MUST WEAR HEARING PROTECTION shielding their ears from sound pressure levels generated during competition. Systems capable of exceeding 150dB must be operated by external controls from outside of the vehicle.

Also the competitor’s signature on the score sheet is a requirement, indicating their understanding and acceptance of IASCA’s limitation of liability against personal injury. It has become evident that this policy is not being strictly applied and enforced by Judges and IASCA authorized promoters.

Our exposure last weekend to a YouTube video taken at an IASCA sanctioned event has left us astonished. It revealed a competitor sitting inside his vehicle during SPL competition, his windscreen shattered due to an SPL level in excess of 150 dB, all the while WITHOUT WEARING HEARING PROTECTION. There is absolutely no excuse for this negligence. We have received a number of emails from concerned parties from as far away as Australia condemning this practice with the assumption that IASCA condones these actions. Nothing could be further from the truth; imagine our dismay. This video has prompted action by this association to re issue our mandates and circumvent any further violation of IASCA policy.

ACTION

Effective immediately, the provisions of IASCA IdBL rules citing the use of proper hearing protection during IASCA competitions will be duly enforced with terms of accountability by the competitor, event coordinator and judges. The use of hearing protection while sitting inside a vehicle during an SPL competition is mandatory regardless of the SPL level generated. Vehicles capable of generating anywhere in the vicinity of 150 dB, must be operated from outside the vehicle with all recommended safety measures in place protecting themselves and those around the vehicle. All IASCA event coordinators and Judges will be asked to sign an agreement to provide for the implementation of these protocol mandates.

NON COMPLIANCE CONSEQUENCE

Regardless of seniority, tenure or status, IASCA Judges who do not enforce IASCA hearing protection protocol while judging a competition will place their official IASCA judge’s status in suspension and must attend a Judges training seminar to be recertified and reinstated.

Authorized IASCA event coordinators who do not enforce the IASCA hearing protection protocol at their events will lose all present sanctioning privileges and fees without recourse or remuneration. A reapplication process will be considered after 90 days suspension.

Competitors who do not follow IASCA hearing protection protocol will be automatically disqualified from the competition and sustain a complete loss of all accrued CAP points without recourse.

While these actions may seem absolute, the health and welfare of our constituency is at stake.

Thoughts and Prayers to Jereme Creamer's Dad

We ask everyone to keep Jereme's Dad in their thoughts and prayers; while Jereme was judging at the Spring Break Nationals, his father Joe suffered a severe heart attack and was taken to hospital and placed in ICU. He underwent open heart surgery on Monday and is expected to recover from his ordeal.

Although we recommended that he go back home and be with his parents, his mother told him to stay and fulfill the commitment he had made to judge at SBN. Jereme was naturally worried about his father's condition, so he kept in very close contact over the course of the show to be was aware of his status.

Jereme, thank you for staying and judging at the show under what must have surely been a heartwrenching time for you and thank you to Jereme's parents for raising a fine man of solid principles and ethics; you should be very proud.

Joe, all of us at IASCA have you in our thoughts and prayers and we wish you a full and speedy recovery; take care and get well soon!

BASS BOXING AT SBN

After receiving numerous calls about the event, the IASCA rules Committee is announcing the following change to the IASCA Bass Boxing event at this year's Spring Break Nationals:

For ROUND 1 Bass Boxing Qualifying, competitors will be allowed to play the musical track of their choice; it is no longer a requirement to play track 3 from the IdBL Max dB2 CD in the qualifying round. The competitor's track choice must be approved by the event judges and as per the rules for all Bass Boxing rounds, the music cannot contain any lewd or derogatory lyrics that may be offensive. CDs with a parental advisory are not allowed.

A flyer detailing the Bass Boxing schedule of events for SBN will be available at the IdBL tent through the course of the show.

The loss of an IASCA friend

It is with sadness that IASCA Worldwide Inc. and IASCA South Africa announce the loss of a great competitor and friend, Mr. Reggie Naidu of Johannesburg, SA. Reggie passed away on February 29th in a freak accident near his home.

Reggie was a fierce IdBL competitor who broke 2005 IdBL World Records in the Advanced 3 and Ultimate 1 Classes, using products from Calibra, a South African based car audio manufacturer. He was the leader of Team Calibra and led many of his team's competitors to victory in the IdBL lanes in South Africa. Reggie was best known for his ability to take the tiny yet rugged Austin Minis (older models) and make them really loud; he was always in constant contact with IASCA SA and IASCA Worldwide getting rulings on the vehicles he was building for competition. He followed the rules and built world class SPL vehicles.

Reggie will be missed by all who had the privilege to know him.

Resumen de Modificaciones a Las Reglas 2008 - ESPAÑOL

Resumen de modificaciones a “LAS REGLAS” de 2008

Independiente del hecho que cada uno de los países afiliados adopten todos o algunos de los formatos de IASCA y por si mismo tengan diferentes reglamentos para cada uno de sus eventos. IASCA emite y revisa anualmente “las reglas” de evaluación de cada uno de ellos los cuales DEBEN ser los aplicados por cada uno de los asociados durante los eventos sancionados por IASCA.

Es así como ya se ha emitido el nuevo libro de REGLAS aplicable para 2008, disponible en ingles en la página www.iasca.com y que incluye entre otros los siguientes cambios y modificaciones así como la creación de nuevas categorías y formatos para la temporada de 2008

***NUEVO FORMATO*** Competencia IASCA de iniciación a manera de “car show” y estilo llamada “MACS” (de su sigla en ingles: Mobile Audio Car Show)

El formato MACS es del todo un Nuevo formato que parte de lo básico incorporando audio, video instalación y tema de personalización del vehículo dentro del juzgamiento. Su objetivo es atraer nuevos participantes a los eventos de IASCA e incorporando las aplicaciones de audio y video dentro del formato. Sera puntuada sobre una base de 100 puntos máximos, dividido en cinco secciones de de 20 puntos cada una así: Audio, video, instalación, Tema de personalización y puntaje global en concepto del juez. Las categorías en este formato serán definidas a criterio del promotor del evento por lo tanto pueden ser tan amplias como su creatividad lo limite. Ejemplo d categorías pueden ser: “Mejor sonido”, “Mejor instalación”, “Puntaje total”, “mejor vehículo de marca X”, etc.

**MODIFICACION**Calidad de Sonido reglas / formatos y categorías

· FORMATOS/CATEGORIAS – Este es el mayor “cambio” con respecto a la competencia tradicional.

La competencia/FORMATO tradicional de Calidad de Sonido SQ será ahora denominada “SQi”. Las diferentes divisiones y categorías (tal y como las conocíamos) desaparecen y serán remplazadas con 5 únicas Divisiones, 4 de las cuales serán disponibles en todos los eventos a nivel mundial.

Estas categorías son: Rookie, Amateur, Pro, Ultimate

La quinta División solo se abrirá en eventos especiales como finales mundiales: Manufacturer.

· Rookie tendrá una nueva y simplificada tabla de juzgamiento tanto en sonido como en instalación. En cuanto a sonido se han removido los siguientes criterios: Balance Espectral, Profundidad y Ambiente del escenario, Izquierda-centro y Derecha-centro de Imagen, la totalidad de evaluación de Linealidad, Ruidos mecánicos externos y juzgamiento de bonos por ergonomía igualmente.

· Amateur y Pro continuaran utilizando el esquema de juzgamiento tradicional de sonido pero el juzgamiento de instalación utilizaran el formato conocido anteriormente como STREET incluyendo la sección de “Actualizaciones / mejoras al sistema” dentro del juzgamiento de instalación. Amateur y Pro serán juzgados desde “una sola silla”.

· La División Ultimate continuara utilizando el formato tradicional de calificación tanto para sonido como para instalación, adicionando la sección “Actualizaciones / Mejoras al sistema“ La División Ultimate se juzgara desde “dos sillas”.

· La División de Fabricantes: Manufacturer será abierta únicamente en eventos de triple puntaje o Finales. Los Fabricantes obtendrán puntos CAP al asistir y exhibir sus vehículos en cualquier evento (incluso sin competir en ellos) permitiéndoles así calificar para eventos Finales. La División de Fabricantes será juzgada en las mismas condiciones que la División Ultimate.

Reglas de Evaluación de Sonido

· Para cualquier división: Los criterios de evaluación de sonido serán los tradicionales y ya conocidos.

· Rookie, Amateur y Pro serán evaluados desde una sola silla; siendo mandatorio el realizarlos desde la silla que utilice el conductor, independiente de la posición que esta venga de fábrica.

· Ultimate y MFR serán juzgadas desde dos sillas con un solo juez. Durante el juzgamiento desde dos sillas un solo juez será utilizada para la totalidad del juzgamiento, de tal forma que primero se evalúa desde la silla del conductor y luego cambia de posición y completa UNICAMENTE la evaluación correspondiente a Escenario e Imagen y los respectivos mapas desde la silla del pasajero y completa la calificación correspondiente. Sin embargo, se deja a criterio del organizador el seguir utilizando dos jueces diferentes, siempre y cuando ellos siempre evalúen los vehículos conservando su posición en el vehículo (el juez que decida juzgar desde la silla de conductor debe hacerlo así para todos los vehículos de la División) y no está permitido el intercambio de lugares en el mismo vehículo.

· Ruidos Mecánicos Externos: la descripción y definición de este tipo de ruido queda así: “… Cualquier ruido mecánico generado por cualquier pieza o parte del sistema de audio NO recibirá ninguna deducción de puntos”. Esta definición ha cambiado para eliminar la posibilidad que los jueces deduzcan puntuación por relevos internos en los amplificadores, o mecanismos y motores en reproductores de CD, Etc...

· Unidad de Fuente: En el caso de tener múltiples Fuentes de reproducción dentro del vehículo el competidor debe indicar al juez de Sonido cuál de ellas será utilizada para insertar y reproducir el CD durante el juzgamiento. Una vez establecido, el juez de sonido hará la anotación correspondiente en la hoja de calificaciones la cual será considerada así igualmente durante el juzgamiento de instalación. Cualquier otra fuente de reproducción será considerada como “otros dispositivos” durante la evolución de instalación.

· El uso de las pistas del CD ha cambiado nuevamente a su estado inicial, el cual se detalla en la hoja de calificaciones.

Reglas de Evaluación de Instalación / Formatos

“Mejoras al sistema” ha sido redefinido dándole carácter de “realces o actualizaciones” que se le hagan al mismo. La descripción de “mejoras al sistema” queda entonces: “Los jueces calificaran aspectos en la instalación que sean actualizaciones o modificaciones ya sea al sistema original del vehículo o cualquier dispositivo o montaje de Car audio / multimedia que se haya instalado”. La forma de calificar las mejoras al sistema será similar a como se hacía anteriormente con CREATIVIDAD, basado en la dificultad de ejecución y de finalización de cada uno de los aspectos, el grado de dificultad, el acabado general y el que tanto contribuye al desempeño sónico, cosmética, funcionalidad o durabilidad del sistema. Sin embargo Documentación escrita o en fotos será requerida “para cada aspecto”; cada mejora puede obtener hasta un máximo de 5 puntos. Los equipos, así como las técnicas y materiales utilizadas para obtener los puntos de mejora deben detallarse así como las técnicas de instalación/integración dentro del vehículo y pueden ser por sí mismas consideradas como aspectos de mejora pero estas deben ser definidas como tal por el competidor para que el juez de acuerdo a su criterio establezca si serán puntuadas o no como tal; las actualizaciones o mejoras no hablan únicamente de aspectos innovadores, únicos u originales, también serán consideradas aquellas técnicas o ideas tradicionales tales como : aislamientos acústicos, construcción de piezas y montajes. Los competidores DEBEN presentar el listado a los jueces para su consideración, de no hacerlo se obtendrá una calificación de cero puntos pero el presentarlo no implica la inclusión de todos los ítem propuestos. La presentación de esta listado se hará posterior al tiempo de presentación de rutina del vehículo no antes ni después.

· La hoja de calificaciones en la sección de instalación se dividirá en tres columnas incluyendo así las nuevas Divisiones en la parte superior de cada una de ellas. Rookie en una sola columna, Amateur y pro compartirán columna, así como Ultimate y Fabricantes MFR compartirán la última.

· Los competidores de Rookie no serán juzgados en los siguientes aspectos durante el 2008:

“Membrecía IASCA” (seguirá verificándose el logo de IASCA visible)

“Seguro de operar al conducir”

“Equipo de seguridad no comprometido”.

“Ergonomía del sistema”

“Manufactura” en todas las secciones

“Motor / Interior / Baúl / Conocimiento del sistema / Álbum de fotos / Sistema de seguridad”

“Mejoras al sistema / Actualizaciones”

**Modificado** SQC (Sound Quality Challenge)

SQC es una competencia de Sonido únicamente. Existen dos Categorías: una silla y dos sillas; tal y como sugieren los mismo nombres una sola silla será para Divisiones Rookie, Amateur y Pro por lo que no podrán competir en esta Ultimate & Fabricantes. Sin embargo la categoría de dos sillas es abierta y pueden competir todos sin ninguna distinción. Se utilizara la misma hoja de calificaciones de Calidad de Sonido en la columna de “otras”.

ISQC (International Sound Quality Challenge)

Así como SQC pero solo hay una categoría de dos sillas. Es abierta a todos los competidores. ISQC es juzgada por equipos de jueces internacionales; una vez que todos ellos han juzgado los vehículos, los puntajes son totalizados y promediados así que el más alto promedio será el ganador del evento.

**MODIFICADO** Reglas de IdBL

Los cambios en este formato son mínimos y son relativos básicamente a la cantidad de Categorías en cada una de las Divisiones, es así como se han reducido de 16 a 13 y se han extendido a cambios en las áreas de cono para cada una de ellas ya que han sido revisados de acuerdo a la misma reducción.

La División Rookie permanece igual en 3 categorías (1-160, 161 a 260, 261+), pero Stock, Stock Pro, Advanced y Ultimate se ha reducido a solo 2 en cada una de ellas. Stock y Stock Pro ahora se dividen en 1 a 260 pulgadas cuadradas (Stock/Stock Pro 1) y 261+ pulgadas cuadradas (Stock/Stock Pro 2). Advanced y Ultimate también serán de dos divisiones únicamente; 1 a 520 pulgadas cuadradas (Advanced/Ultimate 1) y 521+ pulgadas cuadradas (Advanced/Ultimate 2). Advanced No Wall ahora se va a dividir en dos categorías igualmente; Advanced No Wall 1 (1 a 260) y Advanced No Wall 2 (261+).

Los otros formatos IASCA (Bass Boxing, Tuner Jam, Nightglow) permanecen igual que en 2007 según su ámbito de aplicación a nivel mundial.

2008 Rule Amendments Summary

The following describes the changes made and updates in IASCA formats, classes and rules for the 2008 IASCA season:

IASCA M.A.C.S. (Mobile Audio Car Show)

MACS is an all new competition format which is very basic, incorporating audio, video, installation and theme into the judging. Its goal is to attract car show participants to IASCA events, judging audio and video in a car show style judging format. MACS scoring is based on a 100 point scale, broken down into five 20 point sections for Audio, Video, Install, Theme and Judge’s Overall Rating. Classes in MACS are at the event promoter’s discretion and they may set up as many different Classes as they choose to.

Sound quality rules/formats

· FORMATS/CLASSES – This is the biggest “change” in our traditional SQ competition.

Traditional IASCA SQ judging will now be called “SQi”. The traditional “Divisions and Classes”

in this format (as we know them) have been removed and have been replaced with 5 distinct

“Classes”, 4 of which will be available at all levels of events.

The new Classes are Rookie, Amateur, Pro, Ultimate and Manufacturer.

· Rookie will have a new simplified scoring scale both in sound and install. In sound judging, the following judging criteria have been removed; Spectral Balance from Tonal Accuracy, Depth and Ambience from Sound Stage judging, Left of Center and Right of Center from Imaging judging, Sound Linearity is removed altogether, External Mechanical Noise is removed from Absence of Noise judging and Ergonomics judging in Rookie is removed altogether.

· Amateur and Pro classes will continue to use the traditional sound and install judging scoring

that have been used in the former Street Format, with the addition of an “Upgrades” section in Install judging. Amateur and Pro Classes will be judged “single seat”.

· Ultimate class will continue to use the traditional sound and install judging scoring we have

been using in the old Ultimate Format, with the addition of an “Upgrades” section in Install judging. Ultimate Class will be judged “two seat”.

· Manufacturer class will be for manufacturer built vehicles and will only be offered at major

events, unless a smaller event chooses to offer the Class. Manufacturers will gain CAP points

for attending and displaying vehicles at any event (not competing) allowing them to qualify

for Finals events. Manufacturer Class will be judged the same as the Ultimate Class.

· For all other classes: All Classes will follow the traditional Sound judging criteria already

established.

· Rookie, Amateur and Pro Classes are single seat judging only; these Classes are judged from

the front driver’s seat of the vehicle.

· Ultimate and MFR Classes are judged two seat with one judge. In two seat judging, the rules

will state that one judge will be used and the judge will judge the vehicle from both

positions, however event organizers may elect to use two judges, one in each position if

they so choose.

· External Mechanical Noise: The description of External Mechanical Noise now reads “Any

mechanical noise generated by any piece of audio equipment will NOT receive any points

deductions.” The phrasing was changed to eliminate the possibility of judges deducting points for internal relays in amplifiers, or CD mechanisms in players, etc.

· Source Unit: In the case of multiple source units in a vehicle, the competitor will indicate

to the sound judge which source unit will be used for judging. Once established, the sound

judge will mark down on the score sheet which source unit was used and the installation

judge will judge that unit as the main source unit in Installation judging. All other source units

within the vehicle (if there are any) will be judged as “Other Devices” in Installation judging.

· Use of CD tracks in Sound judging has been changed back to former status.

Installation Rules/Formats

“System Enhancements” has been removed from Install judging and replaced with “Upgrades” judging. The description of “Upgrades” is as follows; “Judges will score items in the installation that are upgrades or modifications to either the OEM or aftermarket car audio/multimedia equipment/system in a vehicle.” Scoring for Upgrades will be similar to the older “Creativity” judging, based on the difficulty of accomplishing/executing the item, the degree of difficulty, the overall fit and finish of the item and how the item contributes to the overall sonic, cosmetic, serviceability or longevity performance of the system. Written and photo documentation will be required “per item”; each upgrade item is worth up to 5 points. Equipment, as well as the techniques used to upgrade the equipment and the process of installation/integration into the vehicle and system can be considered for upgrade points; the upgrades do not have to be “innovative” or “unique” in nature to be considered, they can be traditional items such as installing sound dampening in the vehicle panels, or building kick panels. Competitors must present the list of upgrades to the Install Judge for consideration.

· The Installation score sheet will be broken down into three columns, with the new Classes

listed at the top of the page. Rookie will have its own column, Amateur and Pro will share a

column and Ultimate and MFR will share a column.

· Rookie competitors will not be judged on the following items for 2008;

“IASCA membership” (still judged for logo)

“Safe to Operate While Driving”

“Safety Equipment Not Compromised”.

“Ergonomic System Points”

“Craftsmanship” in all sections

“Engine / Interior / Trunk / System Knowledge / Photo book / Security system”

“Upgrades”

· Fuse accessibility has extended from 30 seconds to 45 seconds.

· Wires Secured rule has been updated from being secured every 6 inches to every 8 inches max.

· “Craftsmanship” scoring in all classes (except Rookie) has been increased to 10 points from 5.

· “Ergonomic system points” has been added to Amateur and Pro Installation Judging.

· Fusing of capacitors has been removed from installation judging in all Classes.

· Security System judging has been revised.

0 or 1 point for Keyless Entry OR

0 or 2 points for OEM or Aftermarket Alarm fitted.

0 to 3 points for Additional features operated from same remote control.

· Presentation scoring will be reduced from 10 points to 5 points.

· There will be a “1 to 5” point scale added into the Presentation scoring section for the competitor’s Photo Log Book.

· Installation judging in all Classes will be performed by one judge.

· SQC (Sound Quality Challenge)

SQC is a sound quality only competition. There are two classes, single seat and two seat; as the Class names suggest, they will be judged 1 seat and 2 seat. Single seat is open to all Rookie, Amateur and Pro competitors only; Ultimate and Manufacturer competitors are not allowed to compete in this Class. Two seat judging is open to all Classes. These classes will be judged using the sound judging section of the score sheet for Amateur, Pro, Ultimate and MFR competitors.

ISQC (International Sound Quality Challenge)

Like SQC with only one class, 2 seat judging only. It is open to all Competitors in all Classes. Unlike SQC, ISQC is judged by teams of International Judges; once all teams have judged the vehicles, the scores are averaged and the highest average score determines the winner.

· IQC (Install Quality Challenge)

IQC is a contest of Installation quality only. There are three Classes; Rookie, Amateur and Pro. Judging is performed the same as in SQi competition.

IASCA to Judge Pioneer Demo Vehicle Build-off

South Daytona, Florida – Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. has contracted IASCA Worldwide Inc. officials to be the judges of the first “Pioneer Demo Vehicle Build Off” at the 2007 Pioneer Road Show in Tucson, Arizona this April15 – 18th. Eighteen Demo Vehicles built by select Pioneer Premier Dealers from various parts of the country will be judged by IASCA Ultimate Pro Class competition standards.

IASCA’s senior judges, Harry Kimura and Will Adcock, both who are former IASCA World Champion competitors and IASCA International Judges Trainers, will handle the sound quality portion of the judging; while IASCA Director Moe Sabourin along with Kimura will register RTO and SPL measurements. Installation quality judging will be Sabourin and Adcock’s task.

“We are very excited to be aligned with Pioneer Electronics” said Sabourin, “we applaud Pioneer’s involvement with their Dealers and appreciate their recognition of IASCA rules as the authority to be judged by. This competitive spirit was rekindled with Scott Owens breaking the 180 dB barrier with Pioneer equipment at the IASCA World Finals. Our industry needs more of this kind of dealer promotion. IASCA believes that our industry needs to refortify its focus on independent retailers; to help them promote their professional posture in their marketplace. 2007 IASCA European Championships

Pavoda, Italy - In conjunction with its European affiliations IASCA Worldwide Inc. is proud to announce that the 2007 IASCA European Championships will take place on October 20th and 21st at the Autodromo di Adria (Adria International Raceway), a popular racetrack in the province of Rovigo near the shores of the Adriatic Sea.

The event will be produced by Stefano Eupani, the IASCA affiliate for Italy who has successfully produced European finals in the past.

The Adria International Raceway is home to many international automotive racing events, including the FIA GT Championships and the KIARIO Sportcup racing series, as well as many motorcycle championship races and now, the IASCA European Championships.

Autodromo di Adria also features world class shopping and dining right at the track, so there is plenty for everyone to do while there. New World Record set in Stock Pro 3

Congratulations to John Pollard of Ocilla, Georgia for breaking the IdBL Stock Pro 3 World Record on June 24th, 2007. John beat the previous record held by Mo Mohammed of South Africa by posting two runs of 155.0 dB. Pollard drives a 1998 Ford Explorer and is using four Resonent Engineering Subwoofers and two Stetsom 7000K amplifiers.

USA Competitor Reclaims Stock Pro 2 World Record

Jim Becker reclaimed the Stock Pro 2 World Record from South Africa last weekend at the NOPI/IASCA TKE event in Los Angeles by posting two runs of 155.3 breaking the previous record of 154.6 by Barries Fourie of Johannesburg. Becker is using two Digital Design 12 inch subwoofers with HiFonics amplifiers.
“The event was awesome.” says Becker. “The sun was out and so was the db Gods; in my favor! In preparing, I carefully tuned my car at the event to get the maximum I could in db. It was a very hot Sunday, and those conditions can change your SPL score radically. After about 45 minutes of testing, I achieved the number needed to break the record. I rolled up to the judging area and hit a 155.3 two consecutive times. I was amazed that I pulled it off. Thank you Iasca and NOPI for hosting this event. I have only been competing for less than a year, but this is definitely a good start and a huge accomplishment for me personally.”

Daytona Beach, FL – Once again, this year’s IASCA Finals was a great success drawing 142 competitors from across North America to the “big show”. IASCA brought in 20 judges from across the U.S, as well as many international judges from the United Kingdom, South Africa, Colombia, Mexico, Trinidad, Canada and the Ukraine.

“We are fortunate to have NOPI, as well as many manufacturers, support our efforts in both competition and mobile electronics industry proliferation.” said IASCA Director Moe Sabourin; “Companies like NOPI, Pioneer Electronics, dB Drive, Kinetik, Oxygen Audio and Batcap have raised the bar; NOPI has given us the venue in which to promote the Finals and Pioneer, dB Drive, Kinetik and Oxygen Audio are here with some of their dealers offering great deals to attendees at the show, making this a true Multimedia Expo for the public. We are proud to bring everyone together at this event to help our industry grow.”

In two of IASCA’s newest competition formats, the true champions came shining through. In IASCA’s ISQC format (International Sound Quality Challenge), Eddie Dejesus from Florida emerged victorious in the top spot, edging out second and third place contenders Keith Doney from Pennsylvania and Natan Budiono from Michigan. In Everblast Bass Boxing, five Division Champions “strutted their stuff” to the public and came out on top; here are your 2007 Bass Boxing Champions:

In IdBL, the competition was fierce; most notable was Craig Butler’s 179.9 dB SPL run in the Ultimate 3 Class, setting the 2007 IdBL World Record in that class and finishing only ½ of a dB behind the highest overall recorded IdBL score ever, held by Team Edge Audio’s Scott Owens at 180.4 dB, set at the 2005 IASCA Finals. Other 2007 records were broken at the event in the Advanced 1 Class (Brad Eubank – 162.9 dB), Stock 3 Class (John Carner – 152.9 dB), Stock Pro 3 Class (Toby Newton – 155.5 dB) and the Advanced No Wall Class (Charles Estes – 160.9 dB). Over 70 SPL competitors vied for the top spots at this year’s event.

IASCA Regains Brasil Affiliation

After a 4 year period of dormancy by a former affiliation, IASCA has appointed Brazil’s premier event producer Mr. Daniel Boner of 101% Eventos the IASCA affiliation for the country. IASCA President Paul Papadeas was invited to address car audio salespeople, installers, distributors, manufacturers and the press in a meeting to announce the return of IASCA to Brazil and the new direction of IASCA Worldwide. In a post meeting reception, participants enjoyed refreshments while spending more than an hour comparing the present IASCA to the past. At first some seemingly skeptical attendees quickly warmed up to the new regime. The principle of worldwide competitor classification and rules uniformity was well received. Even more positive response came from distributors and dealers who now know that IASCA’s purpose is to help escalate car audio awareness in the consumer.
101% Eventos hosts over 70 car audio and car show events all over Brazil to a population of over 190 million people, Brazil is a prime market for growth in ht category. Several companies actually manufacture quality auto sound products in Brazil and are making their way into new markets including the USA.
Over the weekend, IASCA Judge Trainer Chris Orblom conducted a Judge’s training session to 15 of the country’s most progressive installers and dealers. Interpreter Willie Maurer made the job easy as he expertly translated the lessons in Portuguese. Papadeas took the opportunity to introduce IASCA rules to retailers as an important sales tool. “Brazilian retailers recounted increasing incidents of consumers brow beating them on price” said Papadeas, “they were surprised to hear that the USA and other parts of the world are experiencing the same problems. We took the opportunity to make them understand that they must continue to differentiate themselves in their market if they are to succeed over the price busters and that by using specific IASCA rules on the sales floor, along with other sales techniques, their professionalism could overcome price objections”.
The training seminars were well received. Half of the attendees over the weekend were associated with the former IASCA Brazilian affiliation in some manner and eager to resurrect the organization; including the former IASCA administrator Dirceu Pedrero Junior who was in attendance. “Repeated requests for a sound quality format at our events led me to IASCA“ say Boner, “the interest in sound quality is peaked and the market is ready for this”. Boner is also the administrator of dB Drag. He says “adding the IASCA Competition formats of Sound Quality and Bass Boxing to our circuit of 70+ competitions will help grow car audio awareness in Brazil to the thousands upon thousands of 101% Eventos attendees.
